Commodity Brokerage

Origination, intermediation, and verification across oil, refined products, gas, and selected non-energy commodities. Buyer-side and supplier-side mandates.

Mark Weir has been brokering commodity transactions across emerging-market geographies for more than two decades. The brokerage practice today is a deliberate one: the mandates that come through CMW Consultants are filtered, the counterparties are introduced selectively, and the work is sized to fit the network rather than the network to fit the work.

The mandates we take

Energy products predominantly — crude, gasoil, jet fuel, gas — with a smaller line in selected non-energy commodities where the network has historic relationships. Volumes typically range from 50,000 MT minimum on a single transaction up to multi-million MT annual offtake structures. We do not work below the minimum; the verification overhead is the same regardless of size and the unit economics demand it.

Buyer-side and supplier-side

A buyer-side mandate represents an institutional buyer with verified capacity and a structured procurement requirement; a supplier-side mandate represents a verified producer or aggregator with confirmed product. The brokerage practice runs both sides, but never the same transaction. Roles are split because the standard of care differs.

Verification posture

Both sides are verified before introduction. We have walked away from more transactions in the last decade than we have closed, and the practice is designed around that ratio. The mandates that survive verification are the ones that close.

How to engage

Initial enquiry by email or contact form. We respond to qualified enquiries within one working day. Engagement begins with NCNDA and a short structured conversation about your mandate and capacity. We do not engage on speculative introductions or on transactions where the counterparty cannot be verified.
